The Bauer World Hockey Invite

Posted by AJ Lee on 11 03 2015

The world’s largest and most prestigious ice hockey tournament all in one city, the 2015 Bauer World Hockey Invitational, takes place this Nov. 5-8 at 27 rinks throughout Chicagoland. Presented by Bauer, the World Hockey Invite is a wonderful and unique opportunity to meet and interact with some of the most competitive hockey players from all over the world. With 430 teams from 32 different states, six Canadian provinces and five European countries, there is no other tournament quite like it. Pro Stock Hockey is proud to be a gold sponsor of this event.

Teams Accepted into the Tournament

The World Hockey Invite uses a selective criteria system to pick only the best hockey teams at every age level to participate in this tournament. The age levels are separated into two divisions: AAA Elite and AAA. AAA Elite is the top competitive level for a player’s age group and features some of the best up-and-coming players. The AAA division, while still highly competitive, is reserved for teams not quite ready to compete with the very best elite teams (i.e., teams from smaller towns, new teams, etc.). Each team may have up to 20 players included on its roster.

Schedule of the Tournament

The official tournament schedule released Oct. 16, 2015 is viewable here. While some uncontrollable changes may occur, that main schedule is final.

  • Thursday, Nov. 5 | Opening Night Team Check-In/Reception: Kicking off the tournament is an opening night party on Thursday, welcoming registrants, their families and their coaches at Seven Bridges Ice Arena in Woodridge, Illinois. The upper level of the facility spans over 10,000 square feet and will hold all team coaches and managers for the teams participating. Bauer Hockey will put on a demo experience from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. for participants and their families, showcasing the latest hockey equipment.
  • Friday, Nov. 6 - Sunday, Nov. 9 | Games through Chicagoland: The three main days of the tournament will include games played around the Chicago area, at 27 different rinks.

Rules of the Tournament

All participating teams have to be affiliated with CHA, USA Hockey or IHF. Official tournament rules and regulations were posted Friday, Oct. 9, and all games are under USAH rules and regulations.

Scouts at the Tournament

Seeing as this is the world’s largest tournament of its kind, the World Hockey Invite is expected to draw more than 140 scouts this year. The scouts will be from Juniors (USHL, NAHL, EJHL and Canadian Major Junior), Division 1 colleges, Division 3 colleges and many NHL teams.
