• Cut and Boot Height: The tongue length and overall boot height of a goalie skate are much lower to enable the use of your ankles when moving around the crease. 
• Blade Shape: The blades on goalie skates are typically much longer and straighter. The ends are flat to promote increased stability while standing up, as well. 
• Protective Cover: The last major difference is the protective covering located at the base of goalie skate boots. This hard plastic shell helps absorb the power of impact from the puck.
